Description: Yellow Ingestrie is a small eating apple. Pale greenish-yellow fruit turning orange-yellow when it ripens. Sharp, fruity and firm flesh. A charming lawn tree due to it’s drooping habit. Highly decorative in table displays and kissing bows. Best eaten straight from the tree as the fruits don’t keep that long, only for a month or so.
Parentage: Orange Pippin x Golden Pippin
History: First recorded in 1800 by Mr T.A. Knight at Elton Manor, nr Ludlow Shropshire. Named after Lord Talbot’s estate, Ingestrie Hall in Staffordshire. Widely grown throughout gardens in the 19th century, especially in the north of England.
