Description: Worcester Pearmain is the main English commercial apple. A reliable crop of delicious flushed blood red fruit. Firm, juicy flesh is very sweet with strong strawberry flavour. At its best when ripened on the tree and just before it falls off. Remains a widely popular garden apple.
History: Raised by Mr Hale of Swan Pool, near Worcester, England. Believed to be a seedling of Devonshire Quarrenden. in 1874, it was introduced by Smith of Worcester and received a First Class Certificate one year later. Its distinctive blossom led to its decorative use in shrubbery in 1890s.
