Description: Winter Gem is one of the best flavoured new apple varieties, it wins flavour contests consistently! Exceptional apple flavour, rich and aromatic with the perfect mix of sweetness and juiciness. Green attractive fruits are flushed with pinkish-red. A strong grower and needs good pollination as it can be a shy cropper in some years. Best on a dwarf rootstock such as M27 or M9.
History: Bred by Hugh Ermen, Kent circa in 1985. It was introduced onto the market by Frank P Matthews in 1993.
