Crataegus x media ‘Crimson Cloud’: A dense, spreading tree with glossy, dark green foliage. Small single, crimson flowers with creamy centres appear during May, very popular with bees & butterflies. The flowers later develop into tiny red berries in the autumn, which are great for attracting birds.
Malus ‘Evereste’: A conical tree with dark green lobed leaves and large soft pink to white flowers. Small red and yellow fruits, rather like mini apples, holding well into winter.
Sorbus vilmorinii ‘Pink Charm’: A small, deciduous tree with arching branches, and feathery, compound, green leaves, that turn gold in autumn. Creamy white flowers in late spring and early summer are followed by vibrant pink berries, which are popular with birds.
The trees included in the Wildlife Friendly Collection are bare root and one year old, they will be a single stem which may be pruned back to encourage branching. For further information on how to prune ornamental trees click here. As bare root trees they will be despatched between November and March when dormant.
