Full Description

Description: Tilia cordata ‘Winter Orange’ also known as Orange Lime is a medium to large tree with a broadly oval crown at maturity, and heart shaped, matt green leaves in summer, turning better yellow in autumn. Ivory white, sweetly scented flowers in July. An outstanding plant with red buds and pronounced orange twigs and shoots in winter.

History: Found as a chance seedling in Zundert, The Netherlands in 1977. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

Tilia (Orange Lime) Growing Tips: Grows readily on light or heavy soils and will put up with temporarily soaking ground. Avoid growing in very dry conditions or exposure to very strong winds. Prune hard in March or April.
