Description: Syringa vulgaris ‘Sensation’ is a deciduous shrub with a relatively loose habit, producing large, single, purplish red florets edged with distinctive white margins to each petal. The fragrant flowers appear in May-June and are attractive to all sorts of wildlife, such as bees and butterflies.
History: Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
Syringa Growing Tips: Easy to grow in most well-drained, fertile, humus-rich alkaline to neutral soils. Thrives in chalky ground and appreciates mulching when planted in full sun
