Description: A strong growing small to medium sized tree with an upright habit and dense growth, pinnate, toothed, dark green leaves turn reddish purple to orange-red in autumn. Clusters of white flowers in late spring are followed by impressive heavy bunches of golden fruit.
History: Introduced by the RHS from a seedling on Battleston Hill at Wisley with a likelihood of S. ‘Ethel’s Gold’ as its parent. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
Sorbus Growing Tips: Grow in moderately fertile, humus-rich, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. Hardy and tolerant of urban pollution and coastal conditions.
