Full Description

Description: A superb, small, oval shaped tree with upright branches. The winter buds are red and the leaves unusually large with many leaflets turning shades of orange, gold and sometimes purple before falling in autumn. Pretty clusters of pink hanging fruit follow the white flowers in late spring and early summer.

History: Raised in 1949 by Col. L.C.R. Messel. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

Sorbus Growing Tips: Grow in moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. Hardy and tolerant of urban pollution and coastal conditions.
