Description: Sorbus ‘Eastern Promise’ is a small, upright, oval headed, spreading tree with pinnate leaves that turn purple and orange-red in autumn. White flowers appear in spring, followed by heavy, dense clusters of deep rose pink berries in autumn.
History: ‘Eastern Promise’ was raised by Hillier Nursery, Hampshire in 1967 by foreman Alf Alford. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
Sorbus (Rowan) Growing Tips: Grow in moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade. Hardy and tolerant of urban pollution and coastal conditions.
