Disease-resistant
Parentage: Discovery x Kent
Description: Red Devil is a stunning eating variety. As the name suggests, this apple has a striking red flush. Strong, fruity taste and superb fruity strawberry flavour. Red stained flesh when it’s fully ripe that produces an incredible pink juice. Highly decorative and an excellent garden variety. The interesting name was inspired by the ‘Red Devil’ parachute display team. A healthy tree with a good disease resistance. Very popular garden apple in the UK, but also in France, Holland and Germany.
History: Bred by Hugh Ermen, Faversham, Kent in 1975 and introduced by Frank P Matthews in 1990.
