Description: Quercus texana ‘New Madrid’ is a rare, low maintenance, handsome tree renowned for its colourful foliage. New leaves emerge deep burgundy-red in spring, turning dark green, before developing red and orange tints in autumn. Small male and female catkins appear in March, followed by acorns in late summer to early autumn. ‘New Madrid’ makes a perfect specimen tree in large gardens and parks.
History: First discovered growing in New Madrid, Missouri, USA. Hence the name Quercus ‘New Madrid’.
