Mount Fuji
Description: One of the most beautiful and classic of Japanese cherries, with horizontal to slightly pendulous branches. Very large single or semi-double, fragrant, white flowers burst from soft green foliage in drooping clusters. The flowers contrast spectacularly with the dark almost black bark of the trunk and main branches.
History: Introduced from Japan in 1905. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
Prunus Growing Tips: Best grown in well-drained soil, in full sun to achieve the best flower display and autumn colour. Will tolerate most soil types including chalk and clay.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 4m
