Sargent Cherry
Description:Â One of the earliest, large flowered cherries and one of the finest for autumn colour. A round headed, broad spreading habit, with bronze oval leaves when young, brilliant red and maroon in the autumn. Contrasting with the young foliage, large, single pink flowers appear in late March.
History:Â Introduced to the UK from Japan via Sargent of Arnold Arboretum, America in 1908.
Prunus Growing Tips: Best grown in well-drained soil, in full sun to achieve the best flower display and autumn colour. Will tolerate most soil types including clay.
