Description: Small, umbrella shaped tree with a mass of single white, bell shaped flowers opening from green buds. The green leaves are deeply serrated turning orange-yellow in autumn. Small, deep red fruits sometimes appear.
History: Discovered near Mount Fuji by a teacher from the Gotenba Agricultural School in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1916. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
Prunus Growing Tips: Best grown in well-drained soil, in full sun to achieve the best flower display and autumn colour. Will tolerate most soil types including chalk and clay.
