Full Description

Description: A strong vigorous, upright spreading tree with ascending branches and double shell pink flowers with a frilled appearance borne on long flower stalks. Light bronze-green young foliage turns orange-red in the autumn.

History: Introduced to Europe when Ingram, whilst visiting the Sakura Kwai in 1926, requested scions to be sent to his home in Kent. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

Prunus Growing Tips: Best grown in well-drained soil, in full sun to achieve the best flower display and autumn colour. Will tolerate most soil types including chalk and clay.
