Description: Prunus ‘Daikoku’ is a small tree with strong ascending branches. Large, double, lilac-pink flowers with a central cluster of small green carpels carried in loose drooping clusters. Leaves that open pale yellowish green with a bronze flush, mature to dark green then take on orange and red tints in autumn.
History: Introduced from Japan in 1899, originally called ‘Benifugen’.
Prunus ‘Daikoku’ Growing Tips: Best grown in well-drained soil, in full sun to achieve the best flower display and autumn colour. Will tolerate most soil types including chalk and clay.
