Description: Prunus avium ‘Plena’ is also known as The double ‘Gean’ or ‘Multiplex’. An upright, spreading, medium sized deciduous tree with big, double white flowers that droop in clusters all over the branches in April-May. Leaves are bronze when young, turning dark green then yellow and crimson in autumn.
History: In cultivation since 1700. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
Prunus (Flowering Cherry) Growing Tips: Best grown in well-drained soil, in full sun to achieve the best autumn colour. Will tolerate most soil types including chalk, and clay.
