Description: A small, round tree with attractive taper pointed, glossy, dark purple leaves, turning red in autumn. Large purplish crimson flowers, rather hidden in the foliage are followed by dark red fruits.
History: An open pollinated Rosybloom seedling, raised in Canada in 1953, and introduced by Kerr in 1958.
Malus Growing Tips: Crab Apples are self-fertile, and very useful as pollinators for a variety of fruit trees. Full sun or part shade lover, best grown in fertile, moist, deep, loamy soils. Requires minimal pruning in late winter or spring to remove damaged, diseased or misplaced growth.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 3m
