Full Description

Description: A superb small tree, upright in habit, with dark purple to green narrow leaves. Vibrant deep pink, single flowers in spring are followed by attractive, small, spheroid, purple fruit in the autumn.

History: Developed by D.F Dayton, Department of Horticulture, University of Illinois in 1982.

Malus Growing Tips: Crab Apples are self-fertile, and very useful as pollinators for a variety of fruit trees. Full sun or part shade lover, best grown in fertile, moist, deep, loamy soils. Requires minimal pruning in late winter or spring to remove damaged, diseased or misplaced growth.
