Description: Magnolia ‘Leonard Messel’ is a worthy variety producing a small bushy tree with masses of lilac flowers deeper pink in bud opening with a pale purple line inside. A good fragrant frost resistant variety. (UK)

Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
