Description: Magnolia ‘Wadas Memory’ is a deciduous tree, conical when young, later broad-crowned with lovely reddish-bronze, young leaves, fading to green through summer before finally ageing to gold in the autumn. Produces masses of fragrant semi-double pure white flowers in spring on the bare branches.
History: M. kobus x M. salicifolia. Named for the esteemed nurseryman K. Wada of Japan.
Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 3m
