M. soulangeana ‘Amabilis’ x M. ‘Mark Jury’
Description: A soulangeana hybrid, named for its attractive scented blooms appearing in April. Goblet shaped creamy white flowers with pink-purple bases to the petals flowering over a long period.
History: Originally raised in New Zealand by Oswald Blumhardt, and selected by Michael Gottschalk, a major grower of Magnolias in Germany.
Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 3m
