Description: Magnolia ‘Peachy’ is a fast growing medium sized tree, initially upright in habit but spreading with age. The fragrant orange-pink flowers, creamy white on the inside, are quite large, initially tulip shaped but having nine rather floppy tepals that open to 20cm wide as the first leaves are starting to unfurl in late April or early May. The three outer tepals are a distinctive peach colour.
History: Raised by Phil Savage of Bloomfield Hills, and registered by Dick Figlar in 1994.
Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 3m
