Full Description

Description: Magnolia ‘Golden Pond’ is a hardy deciduous large shrub or small bushy tree. Flowering fairly late but still before leaf burst so the narrow, upright, tulip shaped, mid-yellow flowers are not obscured by the foliage.

Parentage: M. acuminata x M. denudata

History: Raised by David Leach in 1997.

Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
