Description: Magnolia ‘Elisa Odenwald’ is a small shrub like tree with an upright habit. Large, fragrant, cup-shaped flowers are creamy white with a hint of purple-pink at the base, and pure white within. One of the latest flowering and best of the white magnolias.
Parentage: M. soulangeana ‘Lennei Alba’ x M. x veitchii
History: One of many hybrids raised by Todd Gresham of Santa Cruz. Named and selected by Ken Durio of Louisiana Nurseries, Opelousas in 1984.
Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 3m
