Description: Large compact shrub or small tree with an upright habit, and elliptic, green foliage. ‘Daphne’ has the deepest yellow flowers from April to May usually after the frosts. They are long lasting, cup-shaped, born upright at the tips of each branch.
History: Bred by August Kehr, introduced by Arboretum Wespelaar in Belgium. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit in 2012.
Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 3m
