M. soulangeana ‘Wada’s Picture’ x M. sprengeri var. ‘Diva’
Description: A large, multistemmed tree with fragrant large cup-shaped dark-pale pink flowers, white fading to rose pink on the inside of the 9-12 petals. As the flowers enlarge, they nod over to the horizontal and become rather floppy.
History: Raised by Phil Savage of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and registered in 1989.
Magnolia Growing Tips: Full sun to part shade lover, best grown in consistently moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Provide sheltered site as buds and flowers may be damaged by cold winds, and late frosts. Shape and size can be controlled by pruning which should be done either immediately after flowering or during late summer.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4m x 3m
