Description: Louise Bonne of Jersey is an attractive, reliable and good quality pear. Produces small-medium, pale green turning yellowish-green fruit, with a dark red flush. Flesh is white, sweet, juicy, melting with good pleasant flavour. Good quality and reliable cropper. The tree itself is moderately vigorous. The beautiful spring flowers have some resistance to late spring frost.
History: Raised by M. Longueval, Avranches, Normandy, France in 1780. Firstly known as Louise d’Avranches but renamed Louise Bonne of Jersey when it came to the UK via the island of Jersey. Recieved an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 2003.
