Description: Kingston Black is a high-quality English cider apple. Small yellow-green fruit flushed dark red, almost black. Flesh is reddened, sometimes white; dry, rich and fruity. Produces a good bittersharp juice that makes a fine single vintage cider with a distinctive flavour. Also known as Black Taunton.
History: Thought to be named after the village of Kingston St Mary, near Taunton, Somerset. Due to it popularity, it was widely planted throughout all the cider growing regions.
