Disease-resistant
Description: Josephine de Malines is a very good winter pear that produces heavy crops of small, conical, greenish-yellow fruits with a dark red flush. Delicious, high quality flavours; sweet and moderately juicy, rich buttery and perfumed white flesh. Shows good resistance to pear scab and keeps well into the New Year. Prefers to be grown against a wall or fence in a warm, sheltered site.
History: Raised by Major Esperen at Malines, Belgium in 1830 and named after his wife Josephine. Recieved an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
