Description: ‘Alaska’ is a female, self pollinating tree that produces pretty red berries in autumn/winter but will produce even more berries if sited near a male. This is a more traditional looking holly with spiny green leaves, and an upright habit, its dark green foliage looks fantastic in winter and will give a good evergreen structure to any garden design.
History: Introduced around 1960 by H. and D. Nissen from Wuppertal in Germany.
Ilex Growing Tips: Thrive in almost any well drained soil, in shade or sun. Most are tolerant of urban pollution and coastal conditions.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 3m x 2m
