Description: Hinnonmaki Red is a very hardy variety that is good for both eating and cooking. As you can probably tell by the name, this variety produces a heavy crop of ruby red berries, slightly tangy skin but still sweet in taste. With it’s yellow and green sisters this variety is excellent for organic growing with high mildew resistance.
History: Originated from Finland.
Gooseberry Growing Tips: A very easy fruit to grow. Thrive in many different types of soil, avoiding water logged areas. They are happiest planted in a sunny spot either training against a wall or in containers to take up less space in small gardens. If you would like to eat/cook the berries then make sure you protect them from the birds!
