Description: An attractive honey locust with delicate fern like golden yellow leaves in spring. The older leaves will eventually turn green giving an effective two tone colour to the tree by mid summer returning to yellow-golden in autumn.
History: Raised in the United States and patented in 1954. Gleditsias are named after Gottlieb Gleditsch a German professor of Botany in the 18th Century. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
Gleditsia Growing Tips: These handsome trees, mainly grown for their attractive pinnate foliage, are tolerant of drought, shade and urban pollution. They are suitable for all well drained soils.
