Description: Early Transparent is the most unusual gage with large, round attractive fruits that are flushed with a red cheek and translucent skin. Flesh is golden yellow, juicy and fairly sweet. Good for desserts, jams and for canning. Regular and heavy cropper.
History: Raised by Thomas Rivers of Sawbridge, Herts, UK in 1866. It first fruited in 1869 and was later introduced in 1873. Recieved a First Class Certificate from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1898.
