Description: Devonshire Quarrenden is a very attractive, distinctly flat dessert apple. A strong pleasant flavour of berried fruit, sweet but with good acidity and tough skin. Dark crimson flush with yellow background. In Australia, it is said to have been stored for over twelve months. Believed to be a parent of Worcester Pearmain.
History: Thought to be native of Devon, but might have come originally from France. First recorded in 1678 by Worlidge but thought to be much older. Admired for its summer dessert and grown for market sale, always making a good price!
