Crataegus × lavalleei ‘Carrierei’
Description: A sparingly thorny, deciduous small tree with a dense broad crown and glossy, dark-green, rounded foliage which turns wonderful shades of crimson and bronze in the autumn. White flowers emerge from pink buds in the spring, followed by orange-red haws which ripen in autumn and can persist long into the winter. The bark is also attractive, silvery grey and smooth on the upright twisted branches and then cracking and textured on the trunk and more mature areas. Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
Crataegus Growing Tips: Will tolerate a wide range of soils as long as they are well-drained, urban pollution and coastal conditions. Extremley hardy and ideal for the smaller garden. Prefer full sun or partial shade.
Height and Spread (after 20 years): 5m x 4m
