Description: Commonly known as Frosted Thorn, boasts attractive, dark green, broadly oval foliage which turns marvellous shades of yellow, orange and copper in the autumn. A fine display of single white flowers appear amongst the spiny branches in May, providing nectar for insects. This is followed by impressive red fruits in the autumn, which hang well into the winter.
History: Received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit in 2002.
Crataegus Growing Tips: Will tolerate a wide range of soils as long as they are well-drained, urban pollution and coastal conditions. Extremley hardy and ideal for the smaller garden. Prefer full sun or partial shade.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 4.5m x 4m.
