Description: Coe’s Golden drop is a traditional English variety. Large, yellow fruits, oval-shaped with a long neck. Golden yellow flesh, juicy rich and sweet in flavour. Good quality for fresh eating and preserving. One of the most reliable and easiest to grow varieties in the UK. It is supposed to be stored in good condition for many months by hanging in a dry place or wrapping in tissue paper, according to Lindley’s ‘Guide to the Orchard’.
Parentage: Green Gage x Dame Aubert
History: Raised in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, UK by Jervaise Coe, a market gardener during the late 1700s.
