Description: Cercis ‘Texas White’ is a spreading often multi-stemmed tree of medium sized. Particularly large, milky white flowers are borne in clusters on bare stems in spring. Followed by several long dangling reddish seed pods which can be up to an inch long! The waxy, glossy leaves are green and heart shaped, emerging after flowering and turning lovely shades of yellow in the autumn.
History: Originally discovered as a chance seedling by Judson Germany of Germany’s Nursery and Landscape Company in Fort Worth, Texas and introduced in the late 1960s.
Cercis Growing Tips: Performs best in moderately fertile well drained soils. The best flower production occurs in full sun but part shade is best in hot summer climates.
Height and Spread (after 20 years): 4m x 4m
