Description: Cercis canadensis ‘Rising Sun’™ is a compact, dense, rounded, deciduous tree with attractive heart shaped foliage. The leaves emerge apricot coloured, maturing to yellow then bright green through the summer, before turning yellow and orange in autumn. Abundant pea like, lavender coloured flowers appear in spring on the bare branches.
History: Discovered in 2006 by Ray and Cindy Jackson of Jackson Nursery in Belvidere, Tennessee.
Cercis canadensis ‘Rising Sun’™ Growing Tips: Fully hardy and will grow in most soils though prefers a sunny spot. Can be pruned hard to contain shape or left to grow into its natural graceful form.
