Description: Carpinus betulus ‘Frans Fontaine’ is a medium sized tree of pyramidal habit, narrow when young and broadening as it matures. Good autumn colours of mellow yellow. A classic narrow neat tree for landscape and garden. Other forms include Carpinus betulus ‘Fastigiata’ but this is the better compact form.

Carpinus Growing Tips: Suitable grown in heavy, wet or chalky soils. Prefer to be planted in a full sun or partial shade position.
