Description: Acer rufinerve is a medium-sized tree that’s broadly columnar. Young stems glaucous, older stems and trunk is green with white striated bark. The 3-lobed leaves are dark green and produce bright red and yellow stunning autumn colours. Small upright clusters of yellow-green flowers appear in the spring.
History: Received an Award of Garden Merit in 1986 from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Origin: Japan 1879
Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
