Description: Acer palmatum ‘Villa Taranto’ is an Acer palmatum ‘Linearilobum’ type, but creating a dome shaped bush and leaves with five slender leaflets. The leaves emerge as orange crimson, soon becoming green with a slight reddish overtone. During the autumn, the leaves turn into a pleasing yellowish gold. Perfect for small gardens or planting in a large container.
History: Propagated from a plant at Villa Taranto, Pallanza, Italy in 1967 and was introduced by Firma C. Esveld, of Boskoop, Netherlands. Received an Award of Garden Merit from The Royal Horticultural Society.
Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
