Description: Acer palmatum ‘Trompenburg’ is a graceful form of Japanese Maple which creates stunning all year round interest. Deep purple-red narrow lobed leaves emerge in the spring, turning green in the summer and crimson red in autumn. A favourite for small gardens or planting in a large container.
History: Selected as seedling by J.R.P. van Hoey Smith at the Trompenburg Arboretum, Rotterdam in 1965 and was introduced by Firma C. Esveld, Boskoop, Netherlands. Received an Award of Garden Merit from Royal Horticultural Society.
Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
Height and Spread (after 10 years) : 3m x 2m
