Description: Acer palmatum ‘Seiryu’ is an unusual form of upright, bushy habit. The green lace-leaved maple offers a pleasing contast when planted amongst other varieties. Foliage is bright green, each leaf tipped slightly red in the spring. A spectacular display of orange and yellow splashed crimson autumn colours. The name ‘Seiryu’ means ‘Blue Green Dragon’. Makes the perfect feature for any garden, rockery or large patio container.
History: Introduced in 1882. Received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
