Description: Acer palmatum ‘Kinshi’ is a slow growing, small sized strap-leaved cultivar. The most delicate form with finely narrowed, filigree leaves which are dark green turning into enhanced bronze colours during the autumn. A gentle weeping growing habit, forms a tidy, compact shape. The name ‘Kinshi’ translates to ‘Harp String’. Perfect for small gardens or planting in a large container.
History: Raised in Japan before 1984. Received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
Height and Spread (after 10 years) : 3m x 2m
