Description: Acer palmatum ‘Crimson Queen’ is recognised for the outstanding feature of deep, reddish purple colouring of the deeply divided, slender finely cut lobes of foliage. It carries the deep red colour throughout the entire growing season. Under sunny conditions, the feathery leaves turn into a fiery red colour. Perfect for planting in small spaces or even a large container.
History: Introduced in 1965.
Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
Height and Spread (after 10 years): 3m x 2m
