Description: Acer negundo ‘Kelly’s Gold’ is a medium sized, bushy-headed, deciduous garden tree. The leaves emerge bright yellow, becoming fresh golden-green as they mature, then turning yellow in the autumn again. Drooping racemes of golden tassel-like flowers appear in June, followed by winged fruits. In the winter, the branches are pale grey with a white bloom adding an extra attractive feature to this variety. The tree can be pruned hard each spring to enhance ornamental effect or to control size.
History: Raised in New Zealand before 1989.
Acer Growing Tips: Very easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
Height and Spread (after 10 years) : 6m x 4m
